The included software is an Akai Pro APC Edition version of Ableton Live and all controls are pre-mapped so all you need to do is install the software, plug in via USB and you are away. All controls on the APC 40 can be re-mapped making the unit fully customizable to suit your workflow. If you already own version 8.1.3 or higher of the full Ableton Live then the APC40 will work seamlessly.
The top left half of the APC40 is a 5 x 8 matrix used for clip launches, session view and istrument / drum rack control within Ableton and the illuminated buttons show what is active, enabled etc. giving you instant visual feedback from the software. 5 Scene launch buttons are found on the right and the shift / scroll feature opens up multimple layers so you aren`t just limited to the 40. Below the Matrix are 9 faders for volume, pan, 3 sends, 3 custom user faders and master.
The right hand side of the APC40 consists of 16 assignable knobs with illuminated LED rings so you can see which parameters are in operation and useful for performances in dark stages and studios. The top bank of 8 are for Global paramter control such as your sends and pans etc and the lower bank of 8 is for track control on whichever track is currently selected. All 8 can be used at a time and when you scroll through the tracks, the LEDs will folow the track settings giving you instant visual information. Although there are only 16 knobs, each have multiple layers using shift functions totalling a whopping 72 available assignable parameters.
On the lower right there is a high quality (replaceable) crossfader to transition between any clips or loops assigned to `A` or `B` and there are 2 assignable footswitch inputs for extra control.Added special controls are available for Tap Tempo, Tempo Nudge, Record Enable and Solo / Cue.
The APC40 unit itself is a solid metal chassis with rubber detailing, the components are sturdy and the footprint is minimal making it useful when playing out or in the studio. You also have the option of linking up to 6 APC units in a daisy chain for added control! All this software and creativity at your fingertips make the APC40 a great value for money controller.

If you're not happy with your purchase in any way, simply return it to us within 14 days of delivery for a refund or exchange. All we ask is that you return the item in its original packaging with all the original tags attached. Please use the returns form and address label provided on the back of your receipt and include the form in your package.
