The Rane SL4 is the daddy of all DVS systems. Allowing up to 4 inputs, be it turntable or CD, to control your digital library. DVS (digital vinyl systems) technology means you can use your existing analogue setup of decks or CD players to control your music files on your computer giving you the realism and feel as if the track was right there on the vinyl.
The combination of Rane hardware and Serato software has produced a setup that is almost bomb-proof, has top notch after sales support and is the reason the SL range is number one worldwide among DJs.
The workhorse of the SL4 is the interface unit which has 96KHz / 24 Bit sound quality and 2 USB 2.0 ports making life a lot easier for DJ changeovers or giving the option for 2 computers to run on the setup at the same time. Using galvanic isolation, the SL4 also protects the signal from any outside interference. Finally, ASIO and Core Audio functionality make the SL4 a useful tool for the studio and 3rd party software.
The virtual deck on the Serato Scratch Live software show you the position of the playhead, remaining time and a representation of the waveform so you can see the breakdowns and drops on the track. Absolute mode will be an exact representation of how you control the timecodes but if you want to ensure needle skips and other gremlins don`t pop up then relative mode can eliminate these potential issues.
If you wish to further add to your creativity then Serato Video and Ableton Bridge add-ons are available.
